COMPETITORS
By participating in any competition coached or organized through G&J Studios, I acknowledge and agree to the following terms regarding payments, commitments, and responsibilities.
Payment Structure
There are three types of payments associated with competitions:
(1) Instructor(s) Expenses — Calculated and divided fairly among participating students based on the number of days, dance styles, other activities during the event, and the number of students competing/participating. The goal is equitable distribution to the best of fairness.
(2) Registration Fee — Paid directly to the event organizer/competition. This fee is due no later than 2 days prior to the registration deadline of the event.
(3) Studio / Instructor Fee — Due no later than the day of the competition/event, regardless of the student's performance or outcome. The current fee for the studio/instructor is $2,000 per 1st style entered.
Instructor Expenses Payment Timing
Expenses of the instructor(s) will be paid no later than the night before the event.
Competition Participation
A list of possible competitions is available on the NDCA website (https://www.ndca.org/pages/calendar/Default.asp) and the Blackpool Dance Festival. Students are free to compete in any/all such competitions unless it conflicts with their instructor(s)' personal schedule.
COMMITMENT, CANCELLATION & FINANCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Binding Commitment Upon Registration and First Purchase: As soon as registration for a competition has been submitted on behalf of the student(s) and the first purchase or reservation has been made (including but not limited to hotel bookings, flights, transportation arrangements such as Ubers, or any other travel-related expenses), each student becomes fully and immediately responsible for their allocated share of all associated expenses for the planned trip and participation, as determined at the time of initial group planning and registration.
Cancellation of Participation: In the event of cancellation of part or full attendance for any reason whatsoever (personal, medical, scheduling, injury, etc.), if it is not possible to cancel or modify the arrangements (flights, hotels, instructor time, group transportation, etc.) for all involved parties without incurring penalties, additional costs, or significant inconvenience, the cancelling student(s) agree to pay their full original share of the committed expenses. The remaining students and/or instructor shall not be required to absorb extra costs due to another's cancellation.
Solo Student Responsibility: This policy applies equally to students traveling or competing solo. A single student is responsible for 100% of all expenses (instructor time/fees, travel, accommodation, registration, transportation, etc.) from the moment the first commitment or purchase is made.
Shared Expense Allocation is Fixed at Commitment: The division of shared costs (instructor expenses, group transportation, hotel rooms if shared, etc.) is determined by the group of students who have committed at the time registration is sent and first purchases are made. Subsequent cancellations by other students do not reduce the remaining student's obligation unless all affected parties (including the instructor/studio) agree in writing to a revised allocation.
Protection of Instructor Time & Fellow Students: Any additional instructor time, extra days, or schedule changes necessitated by a student's cancellation or modified plans remain the financial responsibility of that student(s) as per the original shared plan. This policy ensures fairness to all participants, protects the instructor's time and the studio's resources, and prevents one participant's last-minute changes from unfairly burdening others who have already made non-refundable commitments.
ACKNOWLEDGMENT AND AGREEMENT
I have read, understand, and agree to the G&J Studios Competition Policy stated above, including all payment terms, timing requirements, and the binding commitment and cancellation responsibilities designed to ensure fairness for all participants and the studio.
